Located beachfront in Santa Cruz, this "retro"-style, "minimalist" hotel (renovated in 2008) finds a solid fan base for its "central location within walking distance to almost everything", its "views of the Pacific Ocean" from rooms with private balconies, free WiFi and iPod docks, and a staff that "responds quickly"; but a handful warns against staying on the "noisy" lower floors and is further "annoyed" by the valet-only parking.

The view was great.
The staff was not very friendly, I felt like I was checking into a motel 6. The valet was nice but mostly for the tip.
